Storage management

Storage Management provides companies with the ability to track the entire lifecycle of their physical assets. From procurement to installation to decommissioning.

Bottlenecks are identified more quickly and available resources are better planned in the event of maintenance. In Storage Management, both individual modules (SFPs, PSUs, etc.) and components (servers, switches, etc.) are mapped.

The inventory is displayed in a concise list in the sidebar for each storage room and device category. Devices can be installed directly from the list into cabinets, module bays or rooms using drag & drop. Decommissioning is also possible.

Storage Management also ensures convenient inventory management for all physical IT assets. Attributes such as inventory number, cost center and other relevant information can be entered and managed directly. Inventory lists can be filtered or exported at the touch of a button and adapted to individual requirements.

Pathfinder Discovery

Comprehensive documentation of the IT infrastructure is crucial for companies but requires a lot of time. To facilitate this process, we plan to integrate an innovative feature: Pathfinder Discovery.

Pathfinder Discovery enables agent-based and scheduled scanning of subnets & IP addresses. Using various protocols and technologies such as SNMP, NetBIOS, TCP PortScan and ICMP, a wide range of devices can be captured during scanning. Including switches, routers, servers, PDUs and many more.

A key benefit of the new Discovery feature is that it provides comprehensive live data directly in Pathfinder. This provides users with critical information about port states, connected devices, MAC addresses, VLANs, model numbers and vendor information. IT resources can be effectively managed or configuration changes tracked. Up-to-date documentation is ensured.

Pathfinder Discovery also provides the display of power values from power strips (PDUs). This helps organizations monitor energy consumption and utilization of devices and identify potential energy savings.

Scheduling network scans and handling credentials is of course included. The scan agents are platform-independent and can be installed in Windows or Linux environments. The Rest API module is also being revised as part of this product enhancement. More data for your individual solutions.

Overlay

More overview in the primary and tertiary areas. With the new overlay function, we plan to introduce a layer approach in the map display as well as the floor and network plans. Cabling types and asset types can be shown or hidden as desired, enabling individual views.

An overall plan of the tertiary cabling (outlets, distributors) or the representation of all access points on a provided CAD drawing – with the new overlay functions, Pathfinder becomes even more visually appealing. Already documented network knowledge (on room level) is first collected and then prepared in a new form. Select between media types (single mode, multimode, power, etc.) or asset types. In this way, you avoid incorrect installations in the cabling.

Trays/ducts/empty conduits

A well documented structured cabling is crucial to ensure reliable and efficient communication within a company. At the request of numerous end users, we are planning extensive extensions for a more precise mapping of routes, manholes, empty conduits and sleeves.

End users can draw and manage manholes, distribution boxes, poles, etc. in the OSM map. Routes can be further defined by interconnected blank conduits, cables can be separated by sleeves & splice boxes.

Mapping of routes facilitates identification of spare capacity, addressing new cable routes and tracking of connections. Companies can thus optimize their cabling processes and improve efficiency in the management of their infrastructure.

Third-party systems

Easy integration with other interfaces: Pathfinder Server is upgraded with a plugin-system to host scripts based on the Python programming language and connect third-party systems via the REST API.

This powerful extension to the server allows custom automations and integrations to be developed to seamlessly connect Pathfinder to other systems. The plugins can be can also be scheduled for execution.
